Nigerian forward Blessing Adebanjo says she is focused on building a career that extends beyond basketball, as she continues her development at the University of Georgia while also growing a strong presence as a digital creator.
Adebanjo is part of a new generation of athletes blending elite sport with online influence, maintaining that her basketball career and content creation are interconnected rather than separate paths.
With more than 1.3 million followers on TikTok, the Nigerian athlete has developed a significant online audience, where her dance and lifestyle content has helped define her public identity alongside her sporting journey.
She said her long-term goal is to evolve beyond being seen only as an athlete, while still remaining committed to basketball.
“I see myself becoming more than just an athlete, something bigger and more impactful,” she said.
However, she made it clear she is not stepping away from the sport, adding that she remains passionate about basketball and open to its continued role in her life.
Adebanjo explained that dance is a key form of emotional expression for her, helping her manage stress and stay grounded amid the demands of sport and public attention.
She also highlighted the gap between online perception and personal reality, noting that social media does not fully reflect who she is.
Born in Nigeria, Adebanjo previously played for Deep Waters, MFM, and First Bank before stints in Japan and the NCAA system. She recently transferred from the University of Arizona to the University of Georgia, where she continues her collegiate career.
Despite her growing profile, she said she remains deeply connected to Nigeria and would welcome the opportunity to represent the country internationally if invited.
“Representing Nigeria would mean everything to me,” she said, adding that she has not yet been approached by the national team but remains open to selection.
