President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday officially commissioned the new Corporate Headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) in Abuja, marking a major milestone in the restructuring of Nigeria’s tax administration system.

The event also signalled the formal transition from the defunct Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to the newly established NRS, as part of the federal government’s broader fiscal reform agenda aimed at improving efficiency and revenue generation.

In a video of the commissioning shared by his Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, President Bola Tinubu praised the agency’s performance and officially declared the new headquarters open.

Another video from the event showed the President performing a ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside top government officials, including the Chairman of the NRS, Zacch Adedeji, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

During the ceremony, Tinubu read the commemorative plaque, stating:

“The corporate headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service was commissioned on the 14th day of April 2026 by His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This edifice stands as a lasting symbol of integrity.”

According to Olusegun, the newly completed headquarters features 16 floors and three towers and is designed to accommodate approximately 3,000 staff members.

The transition to the NRS forms part of the administration’s ongoing reforms to modernise Nigeria’s tax system, strengthen compliance, and enhance overall revenue collection capacity.
