Turkish Airlines has expanded its European network with the launch of a new route to Timișoara, Romania, marking its fourth destination in the country after Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, and Constanța. The airline said the new service, operating five times weekly, increases its total weekly frequencies in Romania to 47.
An inauguration ceremony at Timișoara Traian Vuia International Airport brought together aviation stakeholders and airport executives, emphasizing the route’s significance for regional mobility, tourism, and business.
Speaking at the event, Turkish Airlines Chief Executive Officer Bilal Ekşi described Romania as a strategically important market in the airline’s expansion strategy.
“Romania continues to be one of the strategically important markets for Turkish Airlines in Eastern Europe,” Ekşi said. “The launch of our Timișoara flights expands our presence to a fourth city in the country, offering our guests more travel options while strengthening access to our Istanbul-centred unparalleled global network.”
Ekşi added that the new route is expected to boost both commercial and tourism activity in the region, offering residents and businesses in Timișoara enhanced access to international markets and travel opportunities.
To celebrate the launch, Turkish Airlines announced promotional fares starting from $169 for the Istanbul–Timișoara–Istanbul route, available through its official channels and travel partners.
