Nigeria Customs Extends Deadline for Fast Track Scheme Migration to AEO Programme

Deadline extended to January 31, 2026, giving operators more time to secure global trade certification.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has extended the deadline for all beneficiaries under the Fast Track Scheme to migrate to the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme from December 31, 2025, to January 31, 2026.

In a statement, NCS spokesman Abdullahi Maiwada said the extension aligns with the service’s commitment to deepening trade facilitation, securing supply chains, and strengthening compliance with global standards.

“The extended timeline provides operators with ample opportunity to meet programme requirements and secure AEO certification without disruption to their business operations,” the statement read.

Maiwada emphasized that the extension reinforces the service’s commitment to a seamless and inclusive transition for all stakeholders. He noted that the migration from the Fast Track Scheme to the AEO Programme is in accordance with the World Customs Organisation (WCO) SAFE Framework of Standards and supported by Sections 108 to 111 of the NCS Act, 2023.

Existing Fast Track beneficiaries yet to complete their migration are urged to initiate and conclude their AEO applications through the official platform: aeo.nigeriatradehub.gov.ng. For enquiries or technical support, stakeholders may contact the dedicated helpdesk via aeo@customs.gov.ng.

Maiwada stressed that only companies certified under the AEO Programme will continue to enjoy the facilitation privileges previously granted under the Fast Track Scheme. He described the AEO Programme as a globally recognized compliance-based initiative offering trusted operators benefits such as expedited cargo release, reduced documentation, lower inspection levels, pre-arrival processing, and enhanced predictability in cross-border trade.

The NCS will host a comprehensive stakeholders’ engagement forum on December 18 in Lagos, aimed at guiding operators on the AEO migration process, demonstrating application procedures, and addressing compliance concerns. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with implementation teams and access detailed information on programme requirements, benefits, and operational procedures.

“The NCS urges all Fast Track beneficiaries to take advantage of the extension, participate actively in the engagement forum, and complete their transition to the AEO Programme,” Maiwada said.

He added that proactive participation ensures regulatory compliance, enhances supply chain efficiency and sustainability, and fosters a collaborative business environment. The service remains committed to promoting trade efficiency, protecting national revenue, and ensuring a predictable, transparent, and secure cargo clearance system that supports legitimate business operations.
