Teyana Taylor Reflects on 20-Year Journey Following First GRAMMY Nomination

This milestone not only highlights Taylor’s perseverance and artistry but also serves as an inspiring reminder of the dedication and resilience required to achieve long-awaited recognition in the music industry.

American singer, songwriter, and actress Teyana Taylor has expressed heartfelt gratitude as she celebrates her first GRAMMY nomination, marking nearly two decades in the music industry.

In a deeply emotional Instagram post, Taylor reflected on signing her first record deal on November 7th, 2005, and receiving her first GRAMMY nod exactly 20 years later on November 7th, 2025.

Describing her journey as one of “highs, heartbreaks, reinvention, revelation,” Taylor thanked her family, team, label, and supporters for standing by her through every challenge.

She wrote, “Nearly twenty years ago on November 7th I signed my very first record deal. And on November 7th, 2025… God said ‘remember when I told you the weight/wait wasn’t punishment? I told you it was preparation for what I already had written for you?? Baby girl, it’s your time.’”

Taylor continued, “Two decades of chapters — highs, heartbreaks, reinvention, revelation, rooms I prayed to enter, rooms I had to walk away from, and rooms I had to build myself. Every tear. Every closed door. Every whispered prayer at 3am in the studio… It all mattered.”

She described receiving her nomination as a moment of divine affirmation: “To finally receive my first GRAMMY nomination after 20 yearsssssss whew, my heart can barely hold the gratitude. To be seen this way… It feels like God saying, ‘I never forgot you.’”

Taylor also acknowledged the talented women behind her project, Escape Room, and credited God for guiding her creative process. She extended thanks to her supporters for helping her stay connected to her gift, even during moments of doubt.

This milestone not only highlights Taylor’s perseverance and artistry but also serves as an inspiring reminder of the dedication and resilience required to achieve long-awaited recognition in the music industry.
