A businessman, Chiebonam Eze, popularly known as Power-Autos, has been stabbed to death on the premises of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) after attending a departmental bonfire party.
Eze, who was not a student, had attended the event organised on Friday night by the Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Arts.
Witnesses said the altercation began after his Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV accidentally scratched another man’s car, sparking a heated argument. Although campus security operatives initially intervened, tempers flared and the rift escalated.
As Eze attempted to leave the venue with his friends, his vehicle was blocked by three other cars. While his companions fled the scene, Eze reportedly stepped out to assess the situation but was stabbed in the neck, dying instantly.
The attackers fled but abandoned one of their vehicles in a nearby ditch. Four suspects have since been arrested and handed over to the Enugu State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Confirming the incident, Acting Public Relations Officer of UNN, Sunday Agha, clarified that the victim was not a student but had been invited to the party. He added that the university would issue an official statement soon.
