The Edo State Police Command says it is intensifying efforts to rescue three seminarians abducted during an armed attack on Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary, Ivianokpodi-Agenebode, in Etsako East Local Government Area of the state.
The incident, which occurred on July 11, claimed the life of an NSCDC officer, sparking outrage and fear among residents.
In a statement on Monday, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, said Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika is personally leading the tactical operations.
“Operatives of Tactical Teams, including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, have been deployed to ensure the safe rescue of the victims,” Yamu said, adding that a new tactical division had been established in Ivieukwa community to enhance security intelligence.
According to him, the command is also working with security experts and sister agencies to deploy advanced technical intelligence and coordinated operations.
He reassured the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, families of the victims, and the public that every effort was being made to secure the seminarians’ release.
“We are aware of the recent viral video involving the boys, and we wish to assure everyone that the Edo State Police Command is leaving no stone unturned in its resolve to bring the seminarians back. The Command remains unwavering in its commitment to protecting lives and property,” Yamu said.
