Liverpool manager Arne Slot has described winning the Premier League title at Anfield as “one of the best days of his life,” following a stunning 5-1 victory over Tottenham that clinched the club’s record-breaking 20th English league title.
Slot, who took over from Jurgen Klopp, reflected on the atmosphere at Anfield as unforgettable.
“Maybe for all the Liverpool fans, but for many of them, one of the best days of their lives, and I think it was the same for me,” Slot said on Friday.
“The way the whole day went — arriving at the stadium, the intensity of the fans, then going 1-0 behind — it felt like we really had to work for it.”
Liverpool will now face a challenging run of fixtures to close out the season, taking on Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton, and Crystal Palace. Slot emphasized the importance of maintaining focus.
“It’s the end of the season, but we also have to look at this as the start of next season already.”
The Dutch manager also spoke about squad rotation in the final matches, highlighting his desire to give opportunities to underused players.
“Some of them deserve to play already earlier this season because they’ve trained so well. This is also a moment to see where they are.”
Slot praised the team’s depth and resilience, especially noting their earlier hard-fought win over Chelsea in October, despite considering Chelsea the stronger side in that match.
“To be so many points ahead of them is a big compliment for everyone here at this club.”
Looking ahead, Slot sees the title as a powerful recruitment tool.
“Winning the league, having these fans—this is a big attraction to every player we want to bring in.”
While Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have signed new contracts, Slot gave no update on Trent Alexander-Arnold, who continues to be linked with Real Madrid.
Liverpool now look to end the season on a high and carry momentum into what promises to be a highly anticipated 2025/26 campaign.
