The Director General and Chief Executive Officer (DG/CEO) of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Professor Charles Anosike, has urged the agency’s staff to ensure that the 2025 budget is implemented in line with NiMet’s strategic objectives.
Speaking at the agency’s Budget Retreat on Tuesday, 11th March 2025, Professor Anosike emphasized the need for focused prioritization of projects and activities that align with NiMet’s core mission.
“We must prioritize our work and ensure that our projects and activities conform to the established strategic objectives of the agency,” said Professor Anosike.
“These objectives are covered through five critical themes: infrastructure development, sufficient finance, effective stakeholder partnerships, employee growth and welfare, and efficient operations. The outcome will be a Nigerian Meteorological Agency that is vibrant, efficient, and sustainable.”
Professor Anosike also stressed the importance of adhering to procurement laws and processes throughout the implementation of the budget.
He highlighted that successful budgetary performance is crucial to achieving NiMet’s long-term goals and fulfilling its responsibilities in weather forecasting, climate monitoring, and environmental management.
The retreat provided a platform for reviewing the 2025 budget, addressing managerial issues, and evaluating NiMet’s achievements thus far.
The discussions also covered the agency’s focus on employee welfare and organizational growth as part of its broader vision for national development.
“We must always ensure that we operate within the framework of our strategic objectives, especially as we continue to develop infrastructure, enhance our partnerships, and improve our operations,” Professor Anosike concluded.
As NiMet sets its sights on delivering on its core mission, the agency remains committed to the effective use of resources, fostering employee growth, and ensuring sustainability in its operations.
