Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announces ambitious plans at Africa Gaming Expo 2025

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has unveiled plans to position Lagos as Africa’s leading hub for digital gaming, fintech solutions, and AI-driven creative enterprises. Speaking at the Africa Gaming Expo (AGE) 2025, held at Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, the Governor emphasized his government’s commitment to fostering innovation, responsible gaming, and digital entrepreneurship.

The Africa Gaming Expo, which brought together regulators, investors, stakeholders, and gaming enthusiasts from across the globe, provided a platform for discussions on how gaming, fintech, and AI could transform Africa’s digital economy. Sanwo-Olu’s keynote address highlighted the synergy between these sectors, stressing the potential for collaboration in shaping the future of Africa’s economy.

Innovative Vision for Lagos

Governor Sanwo-Olu outlined the significant potential that gaming, fintech, entertainment, and AI hold in driving economic growth. He stressed that AI is at the forefront of transforming the gaming industry by powering fraud detection, enhancing personalized gaming experiences, and promoting responsible gaming initiatives.

He said, “Over the last decade, Africa’s gaming and fintech sectors have experienced explosive growth. This transformation is reshaping how we play, pay, and create entertainment. AI is driving innovation, enabling the creation of immersive, secure, and inclusive platforms for developers, content creators, and fintech innovators.”

The Governor further assured the attendees that Lagos State is actively working on progressive policies and strategic investments to establish a thriving ecosystem for digital entrepreneurs. Through targeted regulations, infrastructure development, and international collaborations, the state aims to create a space where innovators in gaming, fintech, and AI can scale their solutions globally.

AGE 2025: A Platform for Progress

The Africa Gaming Expo 2025 serves as a crucial event for industry professionals to engage, share ideas, and explore potential collaborations. It is an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss how artificial intelligence can enhance efficiency and inclusivity within gaming, fintech, and entertainment sectors.

Mr. Bashir Are, CEO of the Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority (LSLGA), also addressed the expo attendees, highlighting the benefits of such an annual gathering. He noted that AGE offers gaming regulators, operators, and stakeholders the chance to deliberate and provide solutions to the challenges facing the industry.

With over 500 delegates from around the world in attendance, the expo, themed “Transforming the Gaming Sector with Artificial Intelligence and Fintech,” sets the stage for meaningful partnerships and innovations that could define Africa’s digital transformation in the years to come.
