Nestlé Nigeria Unveils Esteemed Panel Judges for 2024 Media Awards

Celebrating Journalistic Excellence in Nutrition, Sustainability, and Socio-Economic Development

Nestlé Nigeria has unveiled a distinguished panel of judges for the 2024 Nestlé Nigeria Media Awards set to honor the most impactful media stories from across the country.

Now in its fourth year, the awards recognize outstanding journalism focused on critical issues such as nutrition security, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic development.

A Diverse Panel of Experts

The 2024 panel features five prominent figures from diverse sectors including nutrition, media, sustainability, and corporate communications.

The panel is headed by Victoria Uwadoka, the Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Lead at Nestlé Nigeria, who will be joined by the following experts:

  • Dr. Chioma Emma-Nwachukwu, Programs Lead, Lagos Chapter, Nutrition Society of Nigeria, known for her work in nutrition and public health.
  • Rosemary Otalor, Account Director at APO Group, with extensive experience in media relations and communications.
  • Dr. Sunday John, Senior Lecturer at Pan-Atlantic University’s School of Media and Communications, an expert in media studies.
  • Oreva Atanya, Director at the LBS Sustainability Center, Pan-Atlantic University, recognized for her work in sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

Empowering Journalists for Social Impact

Speaking on the panel, Victoria Uwadoka emphasized, “We are happy to have such a distinguished panel of judges for this year’s Nestlé Media Awards.

Their expertise in media, nutrition, and sustainability will bring a fresh perspective to the judging process.

The awards align with Nestlé’s commitment to empowering the media to drive fact-based reporting, especially in areas that influence nutrition and behavioral choices.”

This year’s media awards aim to amplify stories that address pressing challenges such as food security, environmental conservation, and community development.

It also underlines Nestlé Nigeria’s long-standing mission to unlock the power of food in enhancing the quality of life for both present and future generations.

Key Thematic Areas for Judging

Entries for the 2024 Nestlé Nigeria Media Awards will be assessed based on alignment with key thematic areas, including:

  • Nutrition and Affordable Food Solutions
  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Youth Empowerment and Development
  • Women Empowerment
  • Community Development
  • Finance and Agriculture

Additionally, stories will be judged for their accuracy, originality, impact, balance, depth, and adherence to ethical standards.

A Record Number of Submissions

The 2024 call for entries closed on November 8, with an overwhelming 285 submissions from journalists nationwide.

This represents the growing interest and commitment of Nigerian media professionals to addressing critical societal issues.

Winners will be announced at a prestigious ceremony in December, where the most impactful stories will be celebrated.
