George, who recently took on the role of caretaker coach following Jose Peseiro’s departure, started his tenure with an impressive 2-1 victory over arch-rivals Ghana in a friendly match held in Morocco.

Fuludu emphasized George’s qualities, highlighting his calm demeanor, coaching qualifications, and ability to handle players effectively. He also noted George’s experience working alongside the former foreign coach, Jose Peseiro, which adds to his suitability for the role.

Expressing his belief in the importance of hiring a local coach, Fuludu stated that an indigenous coach like George would better understand the team and bring out the best in Nigerian players.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is currently considering candidates to lead the team, with two major tournaments looming on the horizon: the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Despite speculation surrounding potential successors to Peseiro, including Pitso Mosimane, Herve Renard, and Emmanuel Amuneke, Fuludu believes that George stands out as a strong contender for the position.

Meanwhile, Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has also voiced his support for George, praising the interim coach for his performance in the recent friendly against Ghana. Iheanacho, who worked with George during Peseiro’s tenure, expressed hope that George would be given more opportunities to lead the team.

George’s successful start as interim coach has garnered widespread acclaim, with many Nigerians, including former players, advocating for his appointment as the permanent head coach of the Super Eagles.

As George prepares to lead the team in their upcoming match against Mali, his supporters remain optimistic about his potential to steer the Super Eagles to further success on the international stage.
