Research has shown that Chelsea would be in the relegation zone at this point of the season were it not for Thomas Tuchel’s points.
The Blues have endured a dismal run of form and results during the ongoing campaign, with the west Londoners set to end the season without a trophy.
To put Chelsea’s disastrous season under more perspective, stats show that Tuchel played a key role in their current placement in the Premier League standings.
The German tactician was in charge of the west Londoners until September, when he was shockingly sacked by new owner Todd Boehly.
According to Sky Sports, Tuchel’s sacking came just days after he had led Chelsea to a shock defeat against Dynamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
Prior to his sacking, Tuchel had won 10 points for Chelsea in the Premier League, having collected three wins in six matches.
The former PSG boss was subsequently succeeded by Graham Potter, who was only able to last just six months before he was shown the door.
Potter had endured a disastrous run with the Stamford Bridge dwellers, with the biggest highlight of his tenure being guiding the side to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
While the ex-Brighton boss had a bright start to life, Sportbible reports that the Blues would actually be in relegation should the season have started in November.
According to the publication, Chelsea have managed a paltry 18 points from 22 games – a tally that would have them occupying 18th place.
