In a strategic effort to drive human capital development and prepare military officers for seamless post-service economic transition, the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi, has successfully graduated 33 senior officers from its Mid and Senior Level Officers’ Entrepreneurship and Management Course 19/2026.
The high-profile graduation ceremony, held on September 4, 2026, brought together key military hierarchy, security chiefs, and civil sector leaders to celebrate participants drawn from the nation’s premier defense and intelligence establishments.
Strategic Capacity Building and Inter-Agency Synergy
The intensive capacity-building program marked the third Senior Officers’ Entrepreneurship and Management Training conducted by the centre in the year. Presenting the course highlights, the Director of Training, Brigadier General Isang Akpaumontia, noted that the cohort comprised 33 carefully selected participants from the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), Defence Space Administration (DSA), Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, and NAFRC itself.
The training curriculum was executed in robust partnership with the Empretec Nigeria Foundation (ENF), led by its Country Representative, Dr. Onari Duke. Structured across five core modules—spanning agricultural enterprise, emotional intelligence, business management, legal advisory, and health and lifestyle elements—the program aimed to bridge the gap between active military service and sustainable civilian entrepreneurship.
Immersive Local and International Study Tours
To ground theoretical concepts in practical realities, the participants partook in an exhaustive series of local industrial tours and an international field study. The experiential learning curve exposed officers to modern manufacturing and enterprise management at Spectra Industries Ltd in Agege and Cormart Nigeria Ltd, alongside ecological and biodiversity evaluations during visits to the National Conservation Centre in Lekki.
Further practical exposure included private sector hospitality management insights at Commint Buka in Surulere and a cross-border international study tour to the renowned Songhai Farming Community in Porto Novo, Republic of Benin. The visit to Songhai Farms offered officers firsthand exposure to integrated farming, zero-waste agricultural practices, and renewable energy concepts.
Institutional Backing and Future Economic Impact
Addressing the graduating officers as the Special Guest of Honour, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Zonal Command, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, commended NAFRC for its enduring legacy as a bastion of socio-economic transformation. AIG Jimoh stressed that contemporary economic realities and global competition render entrepreneurship an absolute necessity for sustainable national stability and job creation.
“The training received by the graduands is timely, strategic and highly relevant to present realities,” Jimoh stated, urging the officers to act as ambassadors of peace, unity, and enterprise development within their respective communities.
Echoing similar sentiments in his welcome address, the Commandant of NAFRC, Air Vice Marshal Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo, expressed deep appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside the military high command, for their steadfast resource allocation and policy support toward institutional capacity building.
With the successful completion of Course 19/2026, these 33 senior officers now stand formally equipped to transition from active defense operations into dynamic roles as industrialists, employers of labor, and economic anchors driving national growth.
