Lagos is set to host the 10th International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Africa Conference on International Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) from June 3 to 5, 2026.

The event will bring together arbitration practitioners, business leaders, regulators, and legal professionals to discuss dispute resolution and cross-border commercial transactions across Africa.

According to organisers, the conference is being hosted by the ICC International Court of Arbitration in collaboration with ICC Nigeria.

The event will take place at the Lagos Continental Hotel under the theme “A Decade of Excellence: Shaping the Future of International Arbitration & ADR in Africa.”

Activities will begin on June 3 with an advanced training session on drafting enforceable arbitral awards, organised by the ICC Institute of World Business Law.

The session is expected to provide participants with practical guidance on producing arbitration awards that can be enforced across jurisdictions.

The main conference will follow on June 4 and 5, focusing on cross-border commercial disputes, enforcement of arbitral awards, investment arbitration, and sector-specific issues.

Key discussion areas will include energy and infrastructure disputes, technology and innovation in arbitration, and Africa’s role in the global arbitration ecosystem.

Speakers expected at the event include Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, Claudia Salomon, Dorothy Udeme Ufot, and other leading legal professionals from across Africa.

ICC Nigeria described the conference as a key platform for strengthening arbitration practice on the continent while improving investor confidence and commercial dispute resolution mechanisms.

Organisers said the gathering will attract lawyers, arbitrators, judges, corporate counsel, policymakers, academics, and regulators from across Africa.

They added that hosting the conference in Lagos reinforces Nigeria’s position as a growing hub for international arbitration and commercial legal services in Africa.

Experts say the event comes at a time when African economies are increasingly seeking reliable dispute resolution frameworks to support cross-border trade and investment under initiatives such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
