Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will on Thursday (today) commission the Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, a landmark redevelopment project spanning an estimated 11.73 hectares. The complex comprises 36 public schools, including 31 secondary and five primary schools, serving approximately 20,000 students in the densely populated Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area.

The project includes a standard football pitch with race tracks, a multipurpose sport court, a fire service station, a health centre, perimeter fencing, gates for security, water harvesters, solar panels, and a biodigester, ensuring modern facilities and stable power supply for the school community.

Previously, most buildings at the complex were dilapidated. The redevelopment, a major intervention under the Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat administration, marks a significant transformation since the complex’s establishment 42 years ago during the administration of the first civilian governor, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande.

The complex now features inclusive education facilities, including two buildings for People Living with Disability (PLD), equipped with vertical lifts, and a vocational school offering training in fashion design, tailoring, masonry, plumbing, and other skills. A central ICT hub and laboratory will enhance students’ learning in robotic engineering and science-related fields.

The Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA) will oversee maintenance to ensure the sustainability of the upgraded facilities, supporting a conducive learning environment and improving educational outcomes in the community.
