VP Shettima Condoles with El-Rufai Family Over Mother’s Passing

Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed condolences to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on the death of his mother, the late Hajiya Fatima Umma El-Rufai.

Senator Shettima visited the El-Rufai family at their Abuja residence, praying for the repose of the late matriarch’s soul and urging Nigerians to work together in fostering unity despite political differences.

Hajiya Fatima Umma El-Rufai passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt, at the age of 96.

The Vice President was received by notable figures including former Bauchi State Governor Ahmad Adamu Muazu, former Chief of Army Staff Abdurrahman Dambazau, Abdullahi Sarkin Gobir Adiya, and members of the El-Rufai family, including Bello and Bashir El-Rufai.

Shettima’s visit reflects a tradition of solidarity and respect for national leaders and their families during times of personal loss.
