President Bola Tinubu arrived in Lagos early Friday after completing a two-day historic visit to the United Kingdom.

The President, accompanied by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, touched down at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at about 1:15 a.m.

He was received on arrival by top government officials and party leaders, including Lagos State Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, alongside other dignitaries.

Later in the day, President Tinubu is expected to join Muslim faithful at the Eid prayer ground in Dodan Barracks to celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

In his Sallah message, the President urged Nigerians, especially Muslims, to uphold the values of the holy month of Ramadan. He emphasized the importance of piety, empathy, unity, and compassion in building a stronger society.

“We have a lot to draw from the noble lessons of Ramadan, especially at a time like this. We must continue to abide by the virtues of piety, selflessness, perseverance, kindness, and compassion beyond this period,” he said.

During his stay in the UK, President Tinubu held high-level talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Downing Street. Both leaders agreed on a £746 million deal aimed at refurbishing two major ports in Lagos, a move expected to boost trade and economic growth.

Describing the visit as “very thrilling and significant,” Tinubu noted that it marked the first state visit by a Nigerian leader to the UK in 37 years. Discussions also covered key issues such as trade, climate change, terrorism, and global economic challenges.

The President and First Lady were also hosted to a State Banquet by King Charles III at Windsor Castle. He highlighted the enduring relationship between both nations, noting their shared vision for progress, resilience, and mutual respect.

The visit featured ceremonial honours, including a guard of honour and a 42-gun salute, underscoring the strong diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
