President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora that the country’s economy has moved beyond a period of uncertainty, describing it as an exit from a “dark tunnel.”
The President made the remarks during an exhibition in the United Kingdom as part of his two-day state visit, where he addressed Nigerians and other participants at the event.
According to Tinubu, his administration remains committed to delivering on its promise of renewed hope, noting that the vision continues to resonate with citizens.
“As I stand before you, we have navigated our way out of the dark tunnel of economic uncertainty and hopelessness. What lies ahead is a bright future for every Nigerian,” he said.
The President encouraged Nigerians to maintain a positive outlook about the country, stressing that national development depends on collective belief and determination. He also expressed confidence in his leadership, pledging to remain an inspiring figure driving meaningful change.
Tinubu further addressed concerns about global economic perceptions, stating his disagreement with certain international credit ratings of African economies. He referenced his views published in the Financial Times, emphasizing that progress depends on local efforts to build credible economic indices.
He acknowledged global economic challenges, including inflation and declining purchasing power, but urged Nigerians to remain resilient and focused.
“Keep your hope alive and your efforts in a positive direction. Together, we will achieve the changes we desire,” he added.
Reflecting on the theme of the exhibition, ‘Nigeria’s Modernism’, the President said it represents more than an art showcase, describing it as a symbol of a generation that redefined Nigerian identity beyond colonial influence.
He highlighted the creativity and resilience of Nigerians, noting that the blend of global techniques with indigenous heritage reflects the true spirit of the nation.
“This is the Nigeria I know and the Nigeria we are working hard to build,” Tinubu said.
