Reality TV star and rapper Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, popularly known as Laycon, has opened up about his personal journey to self-discovery following his victory on Big Brother Naija in 2020.
The ‘Fierce’ crooner revealed that he lost his inner voice after winning the reality show and only rediscovered it more than a year later.
Speaking in a recent video broadcast titled Life With Laycon, the rapper explained that silence became a key factor in his journey toward self-reflection.
“Has the world ever gone silent on you and all you have left was your own thoughts?” he asked.
Laycon said the overwhelming attention and changes that followed his Big Brother victory left him disconnected from his inner thoughts.
“After I won Big Brother Naija in 2020, I lost my inner voice and the first time I heard that voice again was December 2021 after my sold-out concert, The Icons Fest,” he said.
According to him, the moment of reflection came after the concert, when his thoughts began confronting him with deep personal questions.
“The voice kept asking me questions like, ‘Is this really how you want to live? Are you enjoying yourself? What’s next after this? Are you happy?’”
Laycon explained that those questions pushed him to spend time alone and confront uncomfortable truths about himself.
He added that many people struggle with personal growth because they avoid moments of silence and solitude.
According to the rapper, silence acts like a mirror that reflects one’s life and encourages honest self-assessment.
Laycon urged his fans to embrace solitude and self-reflection, stressing that personal accountability and growth often come from spending time alone with one’s thoughts.
