President Bola Tinubu has promoted Ibrahim Masari from Senior Special Assistant to Special Adviser on Political Affairs.
The announcement was made on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to Onanuga, Masari will now work alongside Yau Darazo, who was appointed to the same role in July 2023.
Masari, a close ally of the President, was initially appointed as Senior Special Assistant on Political Affairs in 2023. His promotion places him in a more senior advisory position within the presidential structure.
The role of Special Adviser is considered higher than that of Senior Special Assistant in the presidential hierarchy. Officials in this position typically handle strategic political responsibilities and have direct access to the President.
Masari, who hails from Katsina State, has been active in political party affairs. He previously served as the welfare secretary of the All Progressives Congress during the tenure of Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman.
Over the years, Masari has remained a key figure within Tinubu’s political circle and has played notable roles in party activities, particularly in the North-West region.
His appointment as Special Adviser does not require confirmation by the Senate, as presidential aides serve at the discretion of the President.
