The Lagos State Government on Wednesday announced the completion of rehabilitation work on a key section of the Lekki–Ajah Expressway, with the nine-kilometre Lagos-bound stretch from Chevron to Admiralty Way finished in 27 days, earlier than the projected 41-day timeline.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, led an on-site assessment alongside the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, and other officials. Daramola noted that preparations are underway to commence rehabilitation on the Epe-bound carriageway, part of the overall 28-kilometre corridor from Lekki–Ajah Bridge to Admiralty Way intersection.
Highlighting the corridor’s strategic importance, Daramola said the timely delivery was critical to completing major works before the rainy season, which could affect construction. He assured residents that the rehabilitation adhered to international best practices and quality standards.
Commissioner Osiyemi revealed that a comprehensive traffic management strategy helped minimise disruption during construction. He commended road users for complying with traffic arrangements, which contributed to the project’s record pace, and confirmed that a similar framework would be applied for the Epe-bound works, with minor adjustments to optimise traffic flow.
