First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Thursday called for national unity and collective purpose, warning that “a house divided against itself cannot stand,” as she accepted an honour at the Leadership Annual Conference and Awards 2025 in Abuja.
Addressing high-ranking officials, former heads of state, and other dignitaries, the First Lady dedicated the award to Nigerian women, youth, and community leaders, urging the nation to bridge cultural and religious divides to secure a stable and prosperous future.
“The future of our nation depends on our willingness to work together across cultural and religious differences for the good of all. For a house divided against itself cannot stand,” she said.
Describing the recognition as a shared achievement rather than a personal honour, Mrs. Tinubu said, “I do not take this honour alone. This award is for all those who have helped me along the way, especially women, young people and community leaders who work tirelessly every day to uplift others and ignite hope in our nation.”
She commended the Chairman of Leadership Newspaper, Mrs. Zainab Nda-Isaiah, for sustaining the vision of the organisation’s late founding chairman, Sam Nda-Isaiah, and praised the newspaper’s commitment to journalism that informs, inspires, and strengthens democracy.
Special recognition was also given to UN Deputy Secretary-General Dr. Amina Mohammed, whose keynote address the First Lady described as timely and insightful, offering guidance on the choices Nigeria faces as a nation.
Highlighting the significance of the event, Mrs. Tinubu dedicated her award to all Nigerians who embody compassion, selflessness, and service, urging citizens to unite in building the country of their aspirations.
