Tinubu Holds Strategic Security Talks with AFRICOM Delegation in Abuja

President meets U.S. Africa Command officials to discuss Nigeria’s security and defence cooperation

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday received a high-level delegation from the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) at the State House, Abuja. The delegation was led by AFRICOM Commander, General Dagvin Anderson.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from Nigeria’s military, security, and intelligence agencies. President Tinubu was accompanied by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, as well as the service chiefs of the armed forces.

Also present at the meeting was Mr. Keith Heffern, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Nigeria. Members of the U.S. delegation included AFRICOM’s Senior Foreign Policy Adviser, Ambassador Peter Vrooman, and Command Sergeant Major Garric M. Banfield, the Command Senior Enlisted Leader of AFRICOM.

The discussions focused on strengthening defence and security collaboration between Nigeria and the United States, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, enhance military readiness, and promote regional stability in Africa.

The engagement reflects continued strategic cooperation between Nigeria and AFRICOM in addressing security challenges across the continent.
