Former presidential aide and political commentator Reno Omokri has accused Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, of leaving a trail of divisions and internal crises in every political party he has been associated with.

In a post on his official X handle on Monday, Omokri alleged that Obi’s political journey has been marked by factionalism and infighting, beginning with his early days in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Omokri claimed that although Obi was politically groomed by the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, he later fell out with the party’s leadership, a development that led to deep internal divisions within APGA. He further alleged that Obi’s exit from APGA triggered additional disputes within the party.

According to Omokri, similar turmoil followed Obi’s move to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where his insistence on contesting against former political associates contributed to internal rifts. He also claimed that Obi’s defection to the LP ahead of the 2023 general election caused the party to split into two factions, each producing its own national leadership and National Executive Committee (NEC).

Omokri noted that Obi joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on December 31, 2025, and alleged that tensions have already emerged within the party. He cited comments from the opposition platform’s spokesperson, who reportedly described the Obidient movement as “divisive.”

In addition, Omokri questioned Obi’s record as governor of Anambra State from 2006 to 2014, alleging that poverty levels increased during his tenure and that no new public educational institutions were established. He also raised concerns about past allegations of human rights abuses linked to security operations in Anambra State under Obi’s administration, questioning his ability to manage national security if elected president.

“Having gone through four political parties with the same outcome of division and factionalism, the question is whether the problem lies with the parties or with Peter Obi,” Omokri wrote.
