The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced extended train operations on the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line ahead of The Experience 2025, Africa’s largest gospel concert.
The Experience Lagos, held annually on the first Friday in December, was founded in 2006 by Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock Church. The all-night event attracts both local and international gospel artists and draws massive crowds.
To manage the expected surge in commuter traffic, LAMATA said the Blue Line will operate beyond its usual closing time on Friday, December 5, 2025. According to the agency’s Head of Corporate Communication, Kolawole Ojelabi, trains will run until 11:43 pm, extending past the normal 9:30 pm closing time.
Operations will also begin early on Saturday, December 6, to accommodate post-event travel. The Blue Line will run from 4:00 am to 9:30 pm.
LAMATA confirmed that the Red Line will operate on Friday, December 5, according to its normal schedule — 6:00 am to 10:00 am and 5:20 pm to 8:40 pm but will not run on Saturday.
Regular schedules across both lines will resume on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
The agency reminded commuters that Cowry Cards are required for access and encouraged passengers to plan ahead, follow station guidance, and cooperate with officials for a smooth and safe travel experience.
LAMATA urged residents heading to The Experience 2025 to take advantage of the adjusted schedule for efficient movement across Lagos Island.
