Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has called for President Bola Tinubu’s resignation in the wake of renewed bandit attacks across the country.
The statement follows a deadly incident on Tuesday night, when suspected bandits attacked a church in Kwara State, killing three worshippers and abducting others.
Referencing a 2014 tweet by Tinubu, then an opposition leader calling for former President Goodluck Jonathan’s resignation, Falz criticised the current administration for what he described as an unwillingness to protect citizens’ lives and property.
“You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!” Falz wrote in a social media post on Wednesday.
The rapper’s remarks have sparked debate online about the government’s handling of security challenges and the rising spate of banditry and kidnappings in several Nigerian communities.
