The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed November 20, 2025, for the delivery of judgment in the terrorism case against the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Justice James Omotosho announced the date on Friday while ruling on the matter after Kanu failed to open his defence within the six days allocated to him by the court.
The judge held that since Kanu failed to utilise the opportunity to present his case, he could not claim to have been denied his constitutionally guaranteed right to a fair hearing.
Meanwhile, during the proceedings, Kanu filed a motion challenging his trial, arguing that terrorism was no longer an offence under Nigerian law.
He claimed that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act under which he was being tried had been repealed, rendering the charges against him invalid.
Kanu therefore urged the court to dismiss the case and grant his release, maintaining that no valid charges remained against him.
Justice Omotosho, however, adjourned the matter to November 20 for judgment delivery.
