The Senate has confirmed Bernard Doro as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, following a screening session that lasted less than 30 minutes on Thursday.
Doro, who becomes the third ministerial nominee from Plateau State, used the opportunity to outline his plans to build an inclusive and impartial humanitarian ecosystem in the country. He pledged to strengthen collaboration between humanitarian agencies and security institutions to ensure that assistance reaches those most affected by crises.
He noted that identifying and reaching vulnerable populations during emergencies remains a major challenge, but stressed that technology and data-driven coordination can improve efficiency and transparency.
After a brief interaction, lawmakers expressed satisfaction with his professional background and capacity to serve, and invited him to “take a bow and leave.”
President Bola Tinubu had nominated Doro following the resignation of Nentawe Yilwatda, also from Plateau State. Yilwatda, who previously served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, recently assumed office as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Born on October 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Doro holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, alongside an MBA with a focus on IT-driven business strategy. He is also an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with frontline experience in the United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS), spanning urgent care, general practice, and hospital services.
Beyond healthcare, he has led youth mentorship and social impact initiatives within the diaspora and local communities.
