Former England international Jack Wilshere has been appointed as the new manager of Luton Town, marking the start of his senior managerial career at a club that holds deep personal meaning for him.
Wilshere’s appointment comes as Luton Town aim to rebuild and stabilise following a difficult start to their current campaign. The club, which has earned admiration for its rapid ascent to top-flight football in recent years, is now entrusting its future to a young, ambitious coach with a strong footballing pedigree and a passion for player development.
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the appointment in a post on Monday, writing, “Jack Wilshere becomes new Luton Town manager.”
Reacting to the announcement, Wilshere said it felt like destiny to begin his full-time managerial journey where his football story began.
“It feels like a full-circle moment for me. I was eight when I first came to Luton as a boy, so I guess you could say it’s fate that my first full-time club managerial position is at this club,” Wilshere said.
The 33-year-old, who enjoyed a decorated playing career with Arsenal and represented England at multiple international tournaments, has been involved in coaching youth teams since his retirement in 2022.
Wilshere is expected to assume his duties immediately and will take charge of Luton Town’s next fixture against Mansfield Town on Saturday at 15:00.
