Delta APC Passes Vote of Confidence in Tinubu, Oborevwori — Endorses Both as Sole Candidates for 2027 Elections

The endorsement was made during a well-attended APC Stakeholders Meeting at the State Banquet Hall, Asaba.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, endorsing both as the party’s sole candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made during a well-attended APC Stakeholders Meeting at the State Banquet Hall, Asaba, which brought together influential party leaders, current and former lawmakers, and political figures from the state’s three senatorial districts.

The motion for the endorsement was moved by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, and seconded by former Delta Speaker Victor Ochei.

Keyamo commended President Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as a “prudent manager and visionary leader.” He highlighted the President’s bold economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, which he said had redirected significant funds toward critical national infrastructure such as the Warri Port revival project, the Lagos/Calabar coastal road, and Lagos Airport improvements.

“President Tinubu’s leadership has shown prudence, vision, and courage. His reforms are laying the foundation for a more sustainable economy,” Keyamo said.

He also lauded Governor Oborevwori’s infrastructural achievements, noting that Delta State had witnessed “massive development across all senatorial districts,” and urged unity behind the leadership of both men.

The motion was unanimously adopted, with Ochei praising the “inclusive governance and developmental impact” of both leaders.

In his remarks, Governor Oborevwori thanked party members for their confidence and reaffirmed his commitment to transparent and inclusive governance. He described President Tinubu as “a man who rewards loyalty, commitment, and results.”

“In 2027, our votes will be our report card. Those who claim to love the President must show it through the ballot. Loyalty must be proven, not professed,” he said.

The Governor warned against disloyalty, stating that some individuals who did not work for the APC in the last elections had benefited unfairly.

“This time, loyalty will be rewarded, not hypocrisy,” he declared, urging leaders to put party interest above personal ambition.

On governance, Oborevwori outlined ongoing major infrastructural projects, including the ₦59 billion Uromi Junction Flyover, the ₦39 billion Ughelli Flyover, and the soon-to-be-flagged-off Warri/Sapele Road rehabilitation project.

“This is the only state where contractors are not owed. We pay 40% mobilization upfront because we manage resources efficiently — the President’s reforms are yielding results,” he added.

Immediate past Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, described the April 28, 2025, mass defection into APC as “a turning point in Delta’s political history.”

“Joining the APC was the right decision. The party is now stronger, more united, and better positioned for victory in 2027,” Okowa said.

He praised Tinubu’s economic policies as “bold and necessary” and urged party leaders to sensitize citizens on the long-term benefits of current reforms. Okowa also commended Governor Oborevwori’s humility and inclusive leadership, noting that it had strengthened APC across the state.

With the unanimous adoption of the motion, Delta APC leaders affirmed their total loyalty and commitment to President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, signaling a united front as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
