US Mission Warns Nigerian Visa Applicants Against Omitting Social Media Information

It warned that omissions or inaccuracies in this section could have serious consequences.

The United States Mission in Nigeria has cautioned visa applicants that failing to disclose their social media handles could result in visa denial and render them ineligible for future applications.

In a statement posted on its official social media platforms on Monday, the embassy reminded applicants that they are required to provide usernames or handles of all social media platforms they have used within the past five years when completing the DS-160 visa application form.

“Applicants certify that the information in their visa application is true and correct before they sign and submit,” the mission stressed.

It warned that omissions or inaccuracies in this section could have serious consequences.
“Omitting social media information could lead to visa denial and ineligibility for future visas,” the post read.

The directive is part of enhanced vetting measures introduced by the US government to strengthen security checks on visa applicants worldwide.
