FAAN Signs Landmark MoU with Dubai-Based ATOM Training Services for Global Aviation Capacity Building

The FAAN-ATOM partnership is designed to upgrade the competence of FAAN personnel across a range of safety-critical operations

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has achieved a major milestone in its drive to boost institutional capacity and deliver on the six-point agenda of its Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mrs. Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku.

On July 22, 2025, FAAN officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ATOM Training Services, a top-tier aviation training institute based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, marking a strategic step toward international training excellence for Nigerian aviation personnel.

The agreement, signed in Dubai, was the outcome of months of planning and strategic engagement between the two institutions.

FAAN’s delegation was led by Dr. Luqman Emiola Olatunbosun, Director of Human Resources and Administration, while Abdulla Almemari, General & Accountable Manager of ATOM, represented the training institute.

During their visit, the FAAN team toured the ATOM training facility and held extensive discussions on collaboration areas, which concluded with the successful signing of the MoU.

The FAAN-ATOM partnership is designed to upgrade the competence of FAAN personnel across a range of safety-critical operations, including air traffic management, emergency response, safety oversight, and regulatory compliance.

ATOM Training Services, known for its ICAO-compliant programs, will deliver tailored courses aligned with international best practices.

This move is in line with Mrs. Kuku’s commitment to institutional and human capacity development, as emphasized in her inaugural address upon assuming office on December 18, 2023.

“Every institution is only as powerful as the human resources managing it,” she stated. “We will prioritise the enhancement of institutional and human capacity.”

Under her leadership, FAAN has facilitated training and certification for over 3,000 staff members, reaffirming its pledge to safety, operational excellence, and global relevance.

The MoU with ATOM forms a cornerstone of the FAAN Training Department’s strategic vision. It demonstrates the Authority’s proactive stance in ensuring its workforce is globally competitive, professionally equipped, and capable of delivering world-class airport services.

This collaboration is expected to elevate efficiency, compliance, and service delivery at Nigeria’s airports—ensuring FAAN continues to play a key role in the transformation of the nation’s aviation sector.
