Controversial street-pop artiste Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has once again expressed unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring him the “best president Nigeria has ever had.”
In a viral Instagram video posted on Monday, Portable responded to growing criticisms from celebrities and citizens over worsening economic conditions under the current administration. While many past supporters of Tinubu have publicly expressed regret, Portable maintains that Nigeria is now experiencing “true progress.”
“Since I was born and Nigeria has existed, people say ‘Nigeria will get better’. Nigeria only gets better under the Tinubu administration,” he said.
“It is President Bola Tinubu who makes the country great.”
He commended Tinubu’s quiet approach to leadership, saying the president ignores social media backlash and focuses instead on working behind the scenes.
“Whenever Nigerians and bloggers insult Tinubu, the president does not respond because he is busy working,” the ‘Zazu Zeh’ crooner said.
Portable also recalled his participation in the EndSARS protests, where he had previously criticized the government of former President Muhammadu Buhari, particularly over the alleged Lekki Toll Gate shooting. He contrasted that period with the present administration, saying Tinubu is visibly making a difference.
The singer concluded by advising Nigerians to focus on hard work, claiming that under Tinubu’s leadership, “those who hustle will survive,” using himself as a personal example.
His comments sparked mixed reactions on social media, coming just days after he blamed Buhari’s tenure for economic hardship and border closures that affected food supply in Nigeria.
