The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) has officially announced that the first phase of the Ardova Handball Premier League 2025 will take place in Benin City, Edo State, from July 7 to July 20, 2025.
In a statement released by the HFN Secretary General, Mrs Monica Otumala, all participating teams are expected to arrive on July 7 for a crucial technical meeting.
This meeting will outline the league’s guidelines in line with the International Handball Federation (IHF) and Confederation of Africa Handball (CAHB) rules. Matches will begin on July 8, following the meeting.
“This is to inform everyone that the first phase of the Ardova Handball Premier League 2025 will hold from July 7th to the 20th, 2025, in Benin City, Edo State,” said Mrs Otumala.
“All teams are expected to arrive on the 7th for the all-important technical meeting where the rules of the league will be expatiated.”
She also emphasized the need for clubs to complete all necessary player registrations and logistical preparations ahead of the league kickoff.
Now in its 8th season, the Ardova Handball Premier League is Nigeria’s top-tier handball competition, proudly sponsored by Ardova PLC. The league features 22 elite teams—12 male and 10 female—competing in a two-phase round-robin format.
Tojemarine Handball Club, reigning champions in the male category, will be defending their title for the first time, while Safety Babes aim to extend their dominance by winning an unprecedented fifth consecutive title in the female category.
