The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy on Wednesday officially unveiled the Digital Innovation Park in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State in a bold step toward realizing its $1 trillion digital economy vision.
The facility, commissioned on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by Governor Dapo Abiodun, is designed to serve as a catalyst for digital entrepreneurship, youth empowerment, and inclusive economic growth.
Equipped with computer laboratories, smart networking systems, collaborative workspaces, and multipurpose halls, the Digital Innovation Park will act as a launchpad for young innovators and tech entrepreneurs, as well as a hands-on learning environment for digital skill acquisition.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Tunji Bosun, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, emphasized the park’s strategic role in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu-led administration. “This initiative is a critical step in nurturing the innovation ecosystem and driving Nigeria’s transformation into a $1 trillion digital economy,” Bosun said.
The ministry also revealed that similar digital parks are being developed in Kano, Borno, and Enugu States, in a bid to decentralize tech innovation and provide equal access to digital tools across the country.
The park is expected to facilitate training, foster job creation, and support startups, placing Nigeria firmly on the path to becoming a regional technology leader.
