UK Opens New Premium Visa Centres in Enugu and Port Harcourt for Nigerian Applicants

New locations offer greater convenience as UK visa demand from Nigeria continues to rise.

The British High Commission has announced the opening of two new UK Premium Visa Application Centres in Enugu and Port Harcourt, expanding access to visa services for Nigerian applicants. This development aims to provide more convenience and reduce travel burdens for those in the South-East and South-South regions.

According to Onyinye Madu of the British High Commission Communications Office, Abuja, applicants can now book appointments at visa.vfsglobal.com to submit their visa applications and biometrics at Omedel Luxury Hotel in Enugu or Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt.

These centres complement the existing locations in Abuja, Ikeja, and Victoria Island, which have been operational since November 2024. The move reflects a broader strategy to accommodate growing interest in UK travel among Nigerians.

“The UK remains a popular destination for travellers across Africa,” the Commission noted, “with Nigeria among the top four nationalities, accounting for six percent of the global total.”

UK Minister of State Lord David Hanson confirmed that in 2024 alone, more than 230,000 visa applications were received from Nigerian nationals. “These new premium application centres will provide greater convenience,” he stated.

Alok Singhal, representing VFS Global, said: “We are pleased to open the recently launched Premium Application Centres in Enugu and Port Harcourt, which helps us cater to a larger number of travellers to the UK.”

The new centres offer enhanced services, including document upload support, real-time status updates, and courier delivery of processed documents. Applicants can also choose the “Keep My Passport While Applying” option, allowing them to retain their passports after submitting biometric data until a visa decision is reached.

VFS Global, a trusted partner of UK Visas and Immigration since 2003, now operates visa services in 142 countries worldwide.
