Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Wednesday, produced Aisha Achimugu, a prominent businesswoman, before the Federal High Court in Abuja as ordered by the court.
Achimugu arrived at the courtroom around 11:35 a.m., flanked by two female EFCC officers. Her appearance followed a court directive issued on Monday by Justice Inyang Ekwo, who had ordered her to honour the EFCC’s invitation by noon on Tuesday.
The judge’s ruling came amid reports that Achimugu had fled the country, a claim that stirred public interest. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the court had also instructed EFCC to bring her back to court on Wednesday after reporting to their office.
According to sources, EFCC operatives arrested Achimugu upon her arrival in Nigeria around 5 a.m. and took her into custody for further questioning and compliance with the court order.
Her presence in court marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation, though details of the charges or nature of the allegations against her remain undisclosed as of the time of filing this report.
Justice Ekwo is expected to receive a formal report from the EFCC regarding her compliance and next steps in the case.
