Antwerp welcomes the 2025 Sleep and Breathing Conference

Antwerp is set to host the 2025 Sleep and Breathing Conference from 10 to 12 April 2025. This biennial event, jointly organised by the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS), is the largest pan-European meeting dedicated to sleep and respiratory medicine.

The conference will convene healthcare professionals, researchers, and industry leaders to explore the latest advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a comprehensive program featuring keynote lectures, interactive workshops, and scientific exhibitions.

Antwerp’s selection as the host city underscores its reputation as a premier destination for health and medical events. With a robust healthcare infrastructure, including the University of Antwerp and leading research institutions, the city provides an ideal environment for fostering collaboration and innovation in medical science.

“We are delighted to welcome the Sleep and Breathing Conference to Antwerp,” said Tadeja Pivc Coudyser, CEO of the Antwerp Convention Bureau. “Our city’s commitment to advancing healthcare and our state-of-the-art facilities make Antwerp the perfect venue for this significant gathering of sleep and respiratory professionals.”

“Antwerp is not only a city with a vibrant cultural and historical identity, but also a centre of excellence in medical research and clinical practice,” adds Professor Johan Verbraecken, masterclass organiser and local host of the 2025 Sleep and Breathing Conference. “With institutions like the Antwerp University Hospital and the University of Antwerp driving innovation in sleep and respiratory care, the city offers a uniquely fertile ground for meaningful scientific exchange. This conference thrives on the strength of our local expertise and collaborative spirit, ensuring that the dialogue we spark here continues to advance global standards in sleep medicine.”

In Antwerp, where the whole City is Your Venue, the experience of a conference goes beyond the walls of traditional venues. The city itself becomes an extension of the event, offering delegates an inspiring and immersive setting that makes the entire stay more engaging, meaningful, and memorable. From historic streets to dynamic neighbourhoods, Antwerp transforms into a stage for connection and discovery—ensuring that the impact of the event extends well beyond the meeting rooms.

Antwerp Convention Bureau

The Antwerp Convention Bureau (ACB) is dedicated to promoting the Belgian city of Antwerp as a leading destination for international conferences, meetings and events.  The bureau bridges the gap between those wishing to hold a conference or event in the city and the people and industry partners who can help. Offering free, independent advice and practical assistance, the ACB team makes introductions between event planners and local partners including hotel operators, venue owners and specific service providers.

The port city itself dates back to the Middles Ages and today blends historical charm with modern infrastructure and a dynamic energy. Known for its centuries-old diamond district and picturesque old town of Flemish Renaissance architecture, Antwerp offers a unique setting for business and association events.
