President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a “coalition of confusion,” in a pointed remark made during the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on Thursday at the APC NEC gathering, Tinubu dismissed the relevance of the ADC, asserting that it is not unwise to abandon what he called a “sinking ship.”
The President also used the occasion to commend the immediate-past APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, for his contributions to the party. According to Tinubu, Ganduje was assigned the task of establishing a progressive policy institute for the party—a mission he delivered on.
“I gave him an assignment on the formation of a progressive institute. The National Secretary will work with the chairman to revitalise it, and we can still take him (Ganduje) as a consultant to work with the new chairman to do that,” Tinubu stated.
In a key announcement, Tinubu also revealed that the dates for state, local government, and ward congresses have been shifted to December. He explained that this change is meant to accommodate an influx of new members expected to join the ruling party soon.
The remarks signal not only a continued internal restructuring within the APC but also growing confidence about the party’s expanding influence ahead of future elections.
