Nigerian defence-technology startup Terra Industries has raised an additional $18 million, extending its seed round and bringing the company’s total funding to approximately $51.7 million.
The latest investment represents the company’s third major funding announcement in 2026, following an $11.7 million round in January and a further $22 million raised in February.
The company, founded in 2024, develops autonomous aerial and ground systems designed to protect critical infrastructure and support security operations.
Expansion Into Ghana and London
Terra Industries plans to use the new capital to expand its manufacturing operations, including the establishment of a second production facility in Ghana.
The company is also opening an office in London, which it says will help it access a wider pool of talent and establish closer relationships with potential investors and international partners.
The expansion marks another step in Terra’s strategy of building an African technology company capable of serving markets beyond the continent.
Strong Investor Confidence
The latest funding round includes participation from existing investors 8VC, Nova Global, Silent Ventures, Belief Capital and SV Angel.
Two new investors — Norleo Space Investments and angel investor Grant Gordon — also participated in the latest extension.
The continued participation of previous investors indicates sustained confidence in Terra’s business model and its ability to scale its technology and manufacturing operations.
Building African Defence Technology
Terra Industries is positioning itself within the emerging African defence-technology sector, developing autonomous systems for security and critical infrastructure protection.
The company has previously attracted significant international investment, including funding from investors associated with the global technology and defence ecosystem.
Its latest capital injection comes at a time when governments and private-sector operators across Africa are increasingly looking for locally developed technologies to address security challenges.
From Nigeria to the Global Market
The expansion into Ghana and the United Kingdom represents an important stage in Terra’s growth.
The Ghana facility is expected to increase the company’s manufacturing capacity, while the London office could strengthen its access to international talent, capital and commercial relationships.
For Nigeria’s technology ecosystem, Terra’s latest funding round is also significant because it demonstrates that local technology companies can attract substantial international investment in sectors beyond traditional fintech.
The company joins a growing group of Nigerian startups seeking to develop sophisticated hardware and software solutions for global markets.
A New Chapter for Nigerian Tech
Terra’s $51.7 million in total funding places the company among Africa’s better-funded young defence-technology ventures.
Its continued expansion will now be closely watched as the company moves from fundraising and product development toward greater manufacturing capacity and international operations.
If successful, Terra’s growth could demonstrate how African technology companies can move beyond being consumers of imported technology to becoming developers and manufacturers of sophisticated systems for African and global markets.
