Alex Otti has urged residents of Abia State to collectively protect the progress achieved under his administration, warning against any return to what he described as the “old order.”

Speaking on Sunday at the State Conference of the Aba North Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Aba, Governor Otti said his administration is on a “divine journey” to rebuild and reposition the state for sustainable development.

He stated that his emergence in 2023 was, in his words, an act of divine intervention and emphasized that governance in Abia must continue on its current developmental path beyond his tenure.

Otti cautioned that any attempt to reverse ongoing reforms would not be accepted, stressing that the issue goes beyond individuals and concerns the collective future of the state.

“So anyone who makes an attempt to take us back, we will not allow it. And it’s not about me; it’s about all of us,” he said.

The governor said his administration has worked to restore dignity and pride to the people of Abia by addressing years of poor governance and negative public perception.

He recalled that prior to assuming office, many Abians reportedly experienced embarrassment and sympathy across the country due to the condition of the state.

“That was the choice that we made. And then I said, no, we can’t continue like this. So we left what we were doing to come and see if we could rescue the state,” he said.

Alex Otti added that restoring confidence in the state remains one of the most important achievements of his administration.

He noted that government projects are being extended to rural communities and underserved areas that had long been neglected in previous administrations.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining development momentum and called on citizens to remain supportive of policies aimed at long-term transformation of the state.
