Bayer 04 Leverkusen are reportedly willing to consider offers in the region of €30 million to €35 million for highly rated Nigerian-eligible midfielder Francis Onyeka amid growing transfer interest from clubs in Germany and the Premier League.
According to German outlet fussballdaten.de, Leverkusen are taking a cautious and strategic approach to the future of the 19-year-old playmaker, who impressed during a loan spell at VfL Bochum in the 2025/26 season.
The report states that while the Bundesliga champions still consider Onyeka part of their long-term plans and had previously extended his contract until 2028, the club could still sanction a sale if a significant offer is received.
“Leverkusen are taking a careful and strategic approach regarding Onyeka’s future,” the report noted.
“They would begin negotiations at around €30m to €35m… while the club would prefer to sell abroad rather than strengthen a domestic rival, serious Bundesliga offers are expected to be considered.”
Born in Germany to a Nigerian father, Onyeka remains eligible to represent Nigeria national football team at senior level, despite featuring for Germany at youth international level, including the U-17 setup.
He enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Bochum, where his performances attracted attention from several top European clubs.
Among the interested sides are RB Leipzig and FC Schalke 04.
Leipzig are reportedly viewing Onyeka as a long-term development project similar to Xavi Simons and are preparing an offer in the region of €25 million plus bonuses, with UEFA Champions League football seen as a key attraction.
Schalke, newly promoted back to the Bundesliga, are also keen on securing the youngster and are said to be exploring different deal structures, including a loan with an option to buy and a permanent transfer with a buy-back clause.
Several mid-table clubs in the English Premier League are also monitoring the situation ahead of a possible move in the upcoming transfer window.
Onyeka’s rising profile has now positioned him as one of the most closely watched young midfielders in European football heading into the summer market.
