Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on Sunday to personally pursue senior commanders of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards following missile strikes on southern Israeli towns that injured over 100 civilians.

Another strike hit the town of Dimona more than 100 people, with Magen David Adom reporting 84 injuries in Arad, 10 of them serious, and 33 wounded in Dimona. The attacks tore open residential buildings and left large craters in both towns.

Iranian state TV claimed the strike on Dimona was a “response” to an earlier Israeli attack on Iran’s Natanz nuclear site. AFP footage from Arad showed rescue workers sifting through rubble and attending to the injured, with fire engines and dozens of emergency personnel on the scene.

The Israeli military announced it will investigate why air defence systems failed to intercept the missiles. Brigadier General Effie Defrin said, “The air defence systems operated but did not intercept the missile, we will investigate the incident and learn from it.”

The escalation underscores rising tensions between Israel and Iran, with civilian populations increasingly caught in the crossfire.
