Chukwuma Soludo has directed all political appointees in his administration to vacate their positions, handing over responsibilities to Permanent Secretaries or the most senior civil servants in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
The directive, issued a day after Soludo’s second-term inauguration, requires the affected officials to complete handover on or before Wednesday, March 18, 2026. The circular also summoned first-term cabinet members to meet the governor on Monday, March 23, at 10 a.m. at the ANSEC Chambers, Awka.
Soludo was sworn in for a second term alongside his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim, during a ceremony at the renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka. In his address, the governor highlighted achievements in security and the return to normalcy for schools, markets, and businesses.
“The debilitating one-sit-at-home is over, and our schools, markets, businesses, and public servants are back to work. Ndi Anambra says that ours is now the safest, or at least one of the safest states in Nigeria,” Soludo stated.
The inauguration drew prominent figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Independent National Electoral Commission had previously declared Soludo the winner of the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State, paving the way for his second term in office.
