Lagos State authorities have secured the conviction of eight traffic offenders following an enforcement operation carried out at Haruna in Ikorodu.

The rulings were delivered on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, by the Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court, according to a statement released by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice on Wednesday.

The offenders were arraigned for breaching provisions of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, including driving against traffic (one-way), making illegal U-turns, and other related offences.

According to the Ministry, the court carefully reviewed each case before delivering judgments in line with applicable laws. The prosecution was led by Olufemi Adekunle, with support from Oluwabusola Omotunde.

Among the cases, Omowunmi Babatunde was found guilty of traffic violations and received a sentence that included a ₦200,000 fine pending forfeiture, alongside an additional ₦20,000 fine or one month of community service.

Similarly, Olufemi Opadeji and Alabi Akinoluwa were convicted on both counts of driving against traffic and making illegal U-turns. Each was fined ₦200,000 for the primary offence and ₦20,000 or one month community service for the second count.

Onwah Ogheneweke and Ajimokunola Temitayo were also found guilty on similar charges and handed identical penalties.

Other cases remain ongoing. Onasanya Daniel’s matter was adjourned until April 21, 2026, while Olayemi Oluwabamigbe’s trial was postponed to May 5, 2026, after mixed pleas on a two-count charge.

Lawal Abdulwasiu, who faced multiple charges including breach of peace, obstruction, and resistance of enforcement officers, had his case adjourned for sentencing on March 24, 2026.

The Ministry of Justice reiterated the importance of the Mobile Court system in ensuring swift justice for traffic-related offences across the state. It also urged motorists to comply with traffic laws, warning that violators will continue to face strict prosecution.
