The Lagos State Government has advised motorists to make use of designated alternative routes following the resumption of the partial closure of the Kara Bridge inbound Lagos.
The two-week repair work, undertaken by the Federal Government, is scheduled to run from March 10 to March 28, prompting renewed traffic management measures across key corridors.
In a traffic advisory issued on Tuesday, the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation urged motorists to avoid the Kara Bridge inward OPIC/Mowe axis and comply with diversion plans to ease congestion.
According to the ministry, the closure affects movement along the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway corridor, a major route linking the city to Ogun State and beyond.
Under the first route option, motorists approaching from the Third Mainland Bridge are directed to connect through Ketu to Mile 12, proceed to Ogolonto, and continue to Ikorodu Garage. From there, they are to link Sabo Roundabout and access Isagamu Road or Itokin Road to reach their destinations.
For the second option, drivers from Lagos Island are advised to connect Ilubinrin to Ijora Bridge, then access Eko Bridge to Funsho Williams Avenue. From there, they should proceed to Ikorodu Road through Ojota and Ketu, linking Mile 12 to Ogolonto and Ikorodu Garage before continuing via Sabo Roundabout to Isagamu Road or Itokin Road.
Alternatively, motorists can navigate through Ikorodu Garage to Sabo Roundabout, then link Ogijo, Likosi, Shimawa, Lotto, and Mowe to connect with their intended destinations.
The ministry further disclosed that officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed strategically along the affected routes. Traffic signs will also be installed within the rehabilitation corridor to guide road users and ensure smoother vehicular movement.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to plan their journeys ahead of time and consider the alternative routes to minimise delays during the repair period.
