Zimbabwe is actively seeking investors to fund a $200 million satellite project aimed at enhancing the country’s telecommunications and digital infrastructure, Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube said.

The initiative is expected to significantly improve national connectivity and build on Zimbabwe’s growing capabilities in space technology, following the successful launch of its first mini satellite in 2022 and another in 2024.

Officials noted that the project aligns with the government’s goal of achieving a minimum 6% annual economic growth rate, although the International Monetary Fund projects a more modest 4.6% expansion for the country this year.

For a nation determined to modernize its digital infrastructure, the proposed satellite represents a potentially transformative investment, opening opportunities in telecommunications, data services, and technological innovation.

The government is inviting both local and international partners to participate in the project, emphasizing collaboration to strengthen Zimbabwe’s digital and economic landscape.
