State governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other party leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to boosting grassroots mobilisation to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The recommitment came during the PGF Renewed Hope Ambassadors Summit 2026, held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, on Tuesday.
Representing President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima said the administration’s focus in 2026 has shifted from stabilisation in 2025 to acceleration, anchored on a N58.18 trillion budget. He highlighted record capital expenditure, the largest-ever allocation to national security, and prudent revenue projections as drivers for growth and resilience.
Shettima noted that landmark tax reforms are aimed at protecting the vulnerable, encouraging enterprise, and entrenching transparency in public finance. He also cited the recent executive order on federation account remittances as a measure to safeguard revenues, eliminate duplication, and curb waste.
“From the onset, the Tinubu administration chose honesty and discipline, confronting deep-seated structural distortions. This has restored fiscal credibility, stabilised the economy, and set the foundation for long-term growth. Inflationary pressures are moderating, fuel prices are easing, and our currency is strong and stable,” the Vice President said.
He further pointed out that out of the seven major investment decisions made in Africa in 2025, five were drawn to Nigeria, underscoring the country’s economic strength and investment potential.
Emphasising the role of communication, Shettima tasked Renewed Hope Ambassadors to counter misinformation, provide factual explanations of reforms, and ensure community concerns are fed back to government. He urged them to extend outreach beyond conference centres to wards, markets, and campuses, fostering trust and civic engagement.
Citing Benue State as an example, the Vice President called for reconciliation and unity among party leaders to drive progress at the state level.
Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, APC National Chairman, stressed that despite significant infrastructure projects delivered by the administration, poor communication had limited public awareness. He highlighted the importance of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in translating governance achievements into political capital.
Hope Uzodinma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, said the summit aimed to unify APC structures and strengthen grassroots engagement, promoting accurate communication of the administration’s socio-economic development efforts.
Other notable speakers included Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, who urged public participation in APC initiatives; Atiku Bagudu, who described the Renewed Hope Agenda as a unifying message for the nation; and Wale Edun, who expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and pledged commitment to ensuring transformative reforms in the next phase of the agenda.
