Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo from AFC Bournemouth on a five-and-a-half-year contract, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until 2031.
The 26-year-old joins City after an impressive spell with Bournemouth, where he made 110 appearances and emerged as one of the Premier League’s most dynamic attacking players. Semenyo has already scored 10 league goals this season and will be available for immediate selection, with a potential debut in next week’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Newcastle.
Born in London to Ghanaian parents, Semenyo began his professional career at Bristol City. He gained valuable experience during loan spells at Bath City, Newport County, and Sunderland before establishing himself in the Championship. His move to Bournemouth in January 2023 marked his Premier League debut, where he flourished under manager Andoni Iraola, scoring double-digit goals in consecutive seasons.
On the international stage, Semenyo has earned 32 caps for Ghana, featuring at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He is expected to play a key role for the Black Stars at this summer’s international tournament.
Speaking after completing his move, Semenyo expressed his excitement at joining the reigning champions. “I am so proud to have joined Manchester City. They have set the highest standards in the Premier League and Europe. My best football is yet to come, and I feel I can help the team achieve success this season,” he said.
City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, praised the acquisition, describing Semenyo as “a player with pace, power, and huge potential for growth.”
With his speed, creativity, and eye for goal, Semenyo is viewed as a strong fit for Pep Guardiola’s attacking philosophy. His arrival adds depth and versatility to a Manchester City squad competing on multiple fronts as they pursue further domestic and European honours.
